About MMHG Bozeman

After months of research it became apparent where the Bozeman MMHG 2008 public demonstration project would take place. Baxter Meadows West proved to be the most appropriate for a “Green” demonstration project. This particular neighborhood is a mixed-use community with an already established section of individuals and families from all walks of life. This will make it easy for many of our attendees to walk or ride a bike to the open house demonstrations. Baxter Meadows West also hosts acres of open space for the community’s enjoyment and sits just across the chosen by MMHG has unobstructed views of the Bridgers, and Spanish Peak Mountains as well as a clear shot of the amphitheater in the regional park. Additionally, this is a corner lot with ideal solar orientation. With all the luxuries and staples less than a mile from Baxter, there was no question this would be the site of the unforgettable MMHG demonstration house in Bozeman for the summer of 2008.

Of course, our Green Team™ is assembling quickly; however, we are inviting other businesses to join Bozeman’s team as well. Intrinsik is currently developing the design. The home is shaping up to be absolutely breath taking. This high performance home will quickly be viewed as Bozeman’s smartest “Green” home. On Friday we spent the day with Dan, from Intrinsik, touring Bozeman’s urban neighborhoods. The idea was to gather photos and discuss what the exterior of the new Green home would consist of. It is a priority to use sustainable and practical materials, which are ultimately of low impact. It was a fun day gathering Dan’s, the designer’s and the Director’s inputs and discussing our favorite types of siding. This was an critical day for shaping the vision of the MMHG home. The plans should be complete with elevations within a week or so.

While choosing the appropriate lot, the MMHG crew is also researching and assembling Bozeman’s Go To Green Team™. We are excited to see many of our local Montana sponsors who joined last year’s Missoula team, join the Bozeman team for this 2008 project. IDEA Builders, Mountain Supply, Sierra Pacific Windows and Doors, and First National Bank of Montana are a few of our returning Sponsors. Joining up with our veteran sponsors, we are pleased to announce Intrisik Architecture, NBC-KTVM, Gap West Broadcasting, and The Bozeman Daily Chronicle as a few of the new sponsors eager to be involved in this community awareness demonstration project that teaches sustainability, efficiency, conservation and responsibility.

MMHG will break ground in early may. We will begin to frame the home using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), and should have the home framed up by the early parts of June. This year’s framing will be a public event, where members of the community are encouraged to come out and work for a day. Watching and participating in the SIPS construction will be a great learning experience. MMHG’s first open house will take place in the later part of June and events will continue through our grand finale gala event in early September. The home will also be showcased in the annual Parade of Homes tour. The MMHG Bozeman demonstration home is sure to inspire anyone who is looking to build, remodel or construct using green, efficient and innovative practices.

Stay tuned for more details on Bozeman’s extraordinary “Green” home as it begins to take shape.
