Sustainable Construction Project Structure

The “Make My House Green” demonstration project is the applied manifestation of sustainable construction practices presented as a series of interactive seminars.  These community-enhancing events are hosted during summer months and are free to the public.  MMHG launched with a premier project home and seminar series in Missoula, MT in 2007 and received an overwhelming response from thousands of local enthusiasts who wanted to learn about the future of green building.  A typical project hosts five to six hands-on sustainability seminars where thousands of individuals tour the demo home and participate in responsible residential construction.  Attendees learn how to make a home more efficient and ecological.  This is especially attractive for homeowners, because constructing or retrofitting homes to conserve energy not only saves money, but also cleanses the environment.  The seminar series is hosted by MMHG’s Go To Green Teams of local building professionals.  Each local Green Team includes conscientious contractors, professional installers and sustainable material suppliers; each of which are noteworthy leaders in their respective fields.  During the project, the sponsors are featured through the event’s promotional advertising and on our website so that community members are able to call on their distinguished services for years to come.  MMHG’s next green demonstration project will be held in Bozeman, MT during 2008.  Interactive seminars will be conducted throughout the summer.  The project will culminate with a grand finale event scheduled for Friday, September 5th from 3 PM to 8 PM.  This gala evening includes open house tours, feature festivities, music, food, beverage, giveaways, and special guests.  There’s something for everyone at the MMHG signature demo home finale night.  Bring the whole family or all your friends for the free evening of a lifetime.  Be sure to check this schedule for summer event dates and get out to the seminars as you watch MMHG’s Bozeman Home develop.Sustainability education event in Missoula

What is MMHG?

Make My House Green, a non-profit organization, is a comprehensive source for information, technology, products, construction services, articles, links, and networking.  MMHG is an advocate for green building.  We are continually adding cities and local geographic regions to our centralized resource hub.  Each region is launched with an MMHG public demonstration project.  During the project, that region’s resource website is established and linked to the main MMHG resource site under the projects tab. The local site quickly collects information, photos, publications, services, products, supplies, green properties and much more.  In addition to our web resource and public demonstration projects, MMHG works with reputable construction companies that build quality green homes.  Through MMHG you can find products, green ratings, energy analysis, design, consultation, project management, applied construction and links to the sustainable community.

What distinguishes a MMHG Signature Home?

An MMHG signature home starts with researching, planning and developing the building site.  The MMHG staff and design teams are committed to the finest quality green, efficient homes and construction practices.  Design teams and builders are carefully selected and interviewed to ensure that their companies align with our mission statement.  In addition to the thoughtful designs that set apart each home, MMHG has become known for the standards that define a MMHG TM Signature Home.  Our technology department researches the most appropriate ecological, healthy, efficient products, state of the art plumbing, electrical and heating systems, energy savers, solar applications, and more.  This rapidly developing field always allows for a few exciting surprises along the way.  Our directors work closely with the design teams to integrate a unique yet functional interior layout.  MMHG designs emphasize modern finishes, use of space, built-ins and a little ingenuity to create a timeless masterpiece that will be enjoyed for generations to come.  Ultimately, when it all comes together we create a warm, healthy living environment that is as functional and practical as it is beautiful and inviting.  MMHG project homes demonstrate a plethora of responsible, efficient options that homeowners can then utilize when they build or rebuild their homes.

Promoting Community Sustainability through Charitable Events

Ultimately MMHG demonstration project homes are sold and the proceeds are then used by MMHG to further education efforts on green building, energy efficiency and sustainability around the country.  Each project perpetuates future projects.
